OM Digital Solutions (OMDS)'s OM SYSTEM OM-5 is likely to be announced at the end of this month or next month. The image sensor is the same as the OM-1, a back-illuminated stacked Live MOS sensor with 4/3-inch, approximately 20.37 million pixels, and the image processing engine is TruePicIX. The AF is a 121-point all-cross image plane phase difference AF, which is the same as the Olympus OM-D E-M5 MarkIII. The EVF is approximately 2.36 million dots, also the same as the E-M5 MarkIII. The rear monitor is a 3-inch, approximately 1.04 million dot vari-angle touch panel LCD. Video is 4K30p. The recording media is thought to be a single SDUHS-II slot. It is equipped with functions such as Pro Capture, Live Composite, Live ND, and depth stacking. Attention is focused on whether the AF will automatically recognize the subject using AI deep learning technology. Continuous shooting is 15 frames per second with a mechanical shutter and 60 frames per second with an electronic shutter. The size and weight are 125.3 x 85.2 x 49.7 mm and approximately 366 grams. The appearance is more similar to the OM-D E-M5 Mark III than the OM-1. It will naturally be equipped with dust-proof and water-resistant structures. The problem is the price, which is expected to be less than 200,000 yen. If the price is less than 200,000 yen for a stacked sensor, it will finally usher in the era of stacked sensors, but what will happen?

Postscript OMDS will release the OM SYSTEM OM-5 in November. The price is 165,000 yen for the body only, and 195,000 yen for the 14-150 mm or 12-45 mm PRO lens kit (both including tax). The lens kit will be released in December. The image sensor has not been announced as a stacked type, so it is likely to be a normal back-illuminated Live MOS sensor. The high-res shot is equipped with handheld high-res shot that generates an image of about 50 million pixels with 12 shots. It is now possible to record videos in OM-Log. The image stabilization is equivalent to 7.5 effective stops. The power supply is BLS-50, and the number of shots that can be taken is 310. It's a shame that it doesn't have a stacked sensor, but it is a cost-effective Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera.
